Adam Gollance – President & CEO
Adam Gollance brings a wealth of experience in the hospitality sector to Modus Hotels, overseeing the hotel portfolio and a variety of other real estate holdings. Starting as an intern at Marriott International, Gollance excelled and was promoted to a variety of leadership positions within Marriott’s finance department, eventually as Vice President of International Finance. When Modus approached Gollance, he was intrigued by the smaller, entrepreneurial nature of the business, and enticed by the prospect of logging fewer miles overseas. Under his leadership, Modus has not only stabilized financially, but has grown to acquire five new hotels.
A native New Yorker, Gollance began his career in commercial real estate at Cushman & Wakefield after earning a BA from the University of Michigan. Soon thereafter, he headed to the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned his MBA. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling for pleasure with his wife and children.
Marco Burlimann – Senior Vice President of Operations and Assets
A seasoned hospitality professional, Marco brings a wealth of experience to Modus where he oversees all aspects of hotel operations. Marco has been with Modus for 6 years an has a strong desire for an entrepreneurial company culture. Marco loves the unique aspects of Modus, its entrepreneurial spirit, and the close working relationship he has with the owners.
A typical day includes advising general managers on business objectives, developing branding and marketing initiatives, financial and market analysis, collaborating on design and development and recruiting new leaders, all of which he does with tremendous passion and energy.
Travis Breen – Vice President of Sales and Revenue
Travis Breen brings a passionate and enthusiastic approach to his role as Senior Director of Sales and Revenue for Modus Hotels. With a track record of success leading sales and marketing teams in multiple Top Tier Lodging markets combined with over 16 years of diverse industry experience, Travis was attracted to Modus Hotels for its entrepreneurial culture and dynamic industry vision.
Travis spent 10 years in Sales and Marketing with Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants prior to joining Modus Hotels and has most recently relocated back to Washington D.C. Travis considers himself to be a hotel geek, culture vulture, world traveler, economist, and dynamic family man all rolled up into one lover of life!
Josh Runes – Director: Digital Marketing and Social Media
With 10 years of experience in hospitality marketing, Josh Runes brings a great deal of digital marketing knowledge to the Modus team. He joined Modus in June 2015 after working at a digital agency for the previous 4 years. Josh is responsible for the Modus Hotels’ websites, all of the online marketing efforts as well as educating both the brand and hotel teams about digital marketing and working to align offline and online strategies. He also leads Modus University, the internal training and development program for the organization, and is certified Franklin Covey facilitator and Gallup strengths coach.
Josh was immediately drawn to the entrepreneurial spirit of Modus, “I wasn’t looking for a job or to fill an open position, I was looking for a company that would help me grow both professionally and as a leader.”
Aaron Katz – Strategic Adviser
Aaron Katz brings over 25 years of diverse professional experience to his role as Strategic Adviser at Modus Hotels. Katz’s experience runs the gamut from tax accounting at Arthur Andersen to advising Fortune 500 companies as a strategy consultant. His career in hospitality began while leading brand management and strategy as Vice President at Choice Hotels, the world’s second largest franchise company.
Over the past 12 years Katz’s activities have encompassed hotel acquisition, development and management.
